The University of Waterloo is celebrating the tremendous success of its multimillion-dollar fundraising campaign and turning its attention to the next steps required to maintain the campaign's momentum.
Campaign Waterloo is celebrating what has proven to be one of the more successful university campaigns in Canadian history. UW launched the campaign with a $260-million goal, raised the target to $350 million, and can now report that $515.3 million has been raised to date. This puts us in league with two other Canadian universities that have surpassed the $500 million mark in their fundraising campaigns.
"Campaign Waterloo owes much of its success to the incredible number of people who have volunteered of their time and/or donated financially," says Bob Harding, chair of Campaign Waterloo. "Their support will help us achieve global greatness, and create a wealth of knowledge and discovery to benefit Canada."
Highlights of the campaign include:The success of the campaign has allowed UW to raise the bar on what it can now accomplish and we will aggressively pursue the objectives outlined in our sixth decade plan: Pursuing Global Excellence: Seizing Opportunities for Canada.
The University of Waterloo officially launched Campaign Waterloo: Building a Talent Trust, in March 2004. The success of the campaign and the needs identified in Seizing Opportunities have prompted the university to set an annual fundraising target of $50 million each year, a target that will grow to $100 million annually over the next decade.
